We’re one month in with Gracecakes. This has been such a fun and crazy chapter of our lives – not a lot of sleep, too much cabin fever, thousands of kale chips and bottles of wine – and Grace has been such a sweet addition to our family. This was one moment where they felt like they could be in the same place for a blissful 90 seconds. Our record of co-existence is under 5 minutes.
Harley has been incredibly patient with Grace – he lets her pull on his tail and doesn’t (always) bite when she gets nutty in her puppy way. But he’s not really back to normal. We’re giving ourselves a few more months to adjust.
At thirteen weeks old, Gracie loves snuggling, waking up at 3, 5, and 6:30 a.m., and eating raw kale and brussels sprouts and computer cords and dimes and wallets and paper. She also loves to jump in the bath and shower with you without warning.Gracie is twelve pounds and it feels like she is bigger every morning when we get her out of her crate. We think she’ll be about 35 pounds when it is all said and done, but even our vet is unsure. Just last week she wasn’t as tall as Harley, and now she’s got a few inches on him. This is our first real adventure in puppy raising. We’ve spent a lot of money and a lot of time and it has kind of turned our little world upside down.
